Description

A painting that i did for CGtalk's Grand Space Opera compatition. The story behind this is a war has just ended and people are being rescued. The title "eripere" is i think escape in latin.

Anywayy this is my first propper painting on Photoshop, so crits will be very nice to tell me how to improve.

Thanks :)

Everything is very good, but there could have been more detail on the girl, at the moment she is too soft and blurry, unfinished.

All in all good work :)

its nice yeah, i like the feeling of it. you really made it feel like the end of a war, the calm endless city, with the moon and the soldier with a girl in his arms, waving to a friend.

I don't remember seeing this in the comp. Did you make the nominations?

It is very good anyway.

The background is definitely the strongest part of the picture. I love the colour and depth. I think perhaps the characters aren't quite up to the same standard.

Excellent work. Infact, I think overall it's good enough for a max from me. :)

thanks alot peps.... yea... the original composition was just a landscape, and then i got bored and thought id spice it up a little, and in the end i ran out of time and finished like 10 mins before closing which is y the characters are a little low on the quality but then again.

nice work. Adding fugures was a good idea. It makes Your image more dramatic.

This one shows real feeling to me and tells a little story. I think this is in some cases more important than good technique.
Keep it up!

It's a shame the focul point of your pic ( the figures) got rushed...The guy is still very nicely rendered, it just seems to me the girl could do with some tidying up. Would be well worth doing that little bit extra work because this is a very cool painting otherwise.

This is not a crit as such, just a little food for thought: As a viewer I find it more frustrating to see work of genuine talent marred by either lazyness or carelessness than it is to see work that demonstrates no ability what so ever.
Given your age and the standard of your work I would say that you have a bright and successful future to look forward to...However, remember the old adage about good work being 10% inspiration and 90% persperation...Painting is hard work!!...be prepared ALWAYS to put that work in!

Top marks though and I look forward to seeing more of your pics.
